## Shot 10/19/2009. ## OAKLAND (KRON) — Volunteer crossing guards are at an Oakland intersection Monday to urge drivers to slow down at a crossing where an eleven-year old girl was struck and killed Friday in a hit and run accident. The community activists are also urging the driver of the car that killed Alana Williams to come forward and turn him or herself in. "We’re putting out flyers and everything to keep it to the forefront," Alana's grandmother told KRON 4's Yoli Aceves. "It's sad that it took the death of my granddaughter to put a stoplight here but let's let something positive come from it." Oakland school officials have long been asking for a signal light at the intersection of Foothill and 64th street adjacent to Frick Middle School. Witnesses say Alana had just gotten off an A.C. Transit bus Friday when the driver of a Lexus pulled around the bus, hit the child, and then sped off on 64th Street. "We are coming together as a people and as a community," Alana's aunt Marija Green told Yoli.
