The Islamic group Hamas ordered a "day of wrath" following the death of a senior leader. But demonstrations over the air strikes continue to spread far beyond Gaza. The funeral of a senior Hamas leader along with family members killed by an airstrike. Israeli bombs continue to fall only a few hundred metres away. In response Hamas called for a day of wrath. A call that resonates with many Palestinians here. Om Ali al-Masry, female Gaza resident, “All our people are dead. All our children are dead. Our young people are lost. My son and grandson and the son of my brother-in law and everybody. The Israelis have destroyed us. We have all been destroyed by the poverty and extreme suffering in which we live and even this is not enough for them." But Palestinian outrage continues to spread beyond Gaza. In East Jerusalem, Israeli Police confront stone throwing youths. On the streets, the deep Palestinian political divisions of last year have been put aside, at least for now. Male East Jerusalem resident, “This operation is totally illegal. What they are doing in Gaza is a holocaust. Children are dying in Gaza, women are dying in Gaza. If they’re targeting Hamas, they should be hitting Hamas targets not the innocent while they sleep in their houses or their children. Demonstrations against the Israeli assault also continue to spread throughout the region. From Jordan, Lebanon to here in Afghanistan, where demonstrators burnt effigies including of Israel’s Prime Minister. Protests like these are expected to intensify if and when Israel launches an all out ground war.
